Here are some renders of a porch addition with a bar and grill.
All done with Sketchup + Kerkythea
It was the most lights I had ever worked with and the first with granite counter tops. It was a fun experience!
Any tips or comments are welcome!

that looks like a fun place to be
my critic would be that there are too many different materials which not all fit together...you have the brick wall on the house, the natural stone wall at the counter, you have two different pavings. all together it looks too turbulent materialwise in my opinion -
Yes, I agree. There is some existing old pavers that we won't be able to match. Hopefully they will want all the pavers replaced with new.
The veneer stone on the bar grill area is probably not what will end up there. It was the best I had to work with at the time. I realized too late that its scaled way too small.

The beam-column connection looks wonky. Took me a while to figure it out - using the same material on the beam and on the column "capital" and the two being in the same plane, they rendered as a single object. Making a second, maybe third, material out of the one, slightly darker/lighter, could help differentiate the different pieces. Also, traditionally, the face of the beam lines up with the neck of the column.
It seems like an opportunity to create a focal point over the grill, but the only thing highlighted is a plain brick wall.
Nice renderings and use of textures.

Thanks for the comments. Yes, there is some confusion there at the top of the posts. The construction is all treated lumber wrapped with rough sawn cedar. What you see at the top of the posts is a trim piece to terminate the wrapping of the posts. I should have pulled it down the post a hair, to separate it from the beam.

On the other hand the lighting looks excellent
Didn't think a result like that could be obtained in Kerkythea. -
Very inviting, like the yellowish soft lighting and you got the granite right, great stuff.

Thank you for compliments. It means a lot coming from solo, a true professional in my eyes. I've only been at this rendering thing for about a year or two and have learned tons from this forum/community.

Only critique I would have is to make more!
In Texas, that would be a typical upscale outdoor kitchen.

Looks good, i like the contrast and detail. I've done a few of these areas myself, the first & last images are the best.
