I've had these plant models on file for a while and decided to put a pack together and load then in the Sketchucation Shop (here). The models are saved as SketchUp version 6 so they are compatible with most users.

Pack One - Contains 4 3D Generic Grass Plants. These could be described as low - medium poly models, suited to most regions and climates.

Each comes with an ultra-low poly proxy, high resolution colour, bump and normal maps. They make great render scene fillers, in many cases serving 60-80% of all plants needed for any exterior scene.

I did a bit of trialling different techniques to avoid the common issue with such plants where at low camera angles the lateral foliage tends to visually diminish as the planes have no thickness. I've finally overcome this issue by tilting the curved planes which also assists in greatly reducing the poly count, as when multiple leaves and mapped to these planes each have more random radial angles, clever! Also to keep their "in scene" weight down the leaves are mapped with a greyscale map that is colour applied within SketchUp's material editor, whilst this reduces memory drag it also allows for better colour editing as the normal RGB fighting common with coloured maps doesn't occur!

Here attached is an intro PDF listing the features and tips on use for anyone interested. Also shown is a native sketchup exported image.
