A Couple of Weekend Projects.
-
I thought I'd show a couple of projects I drew over the weekend.
this is a lectern for a church in Lubbock, Texas. It'll be made of red oak finished light with purpleheat accents. I'd have done something a little more complex with the pedestal and base but the fellow who is building it wanted to keep it simple. I made a full set of plans for it, too.
This was for a guy who wants plans for a simple game of Shut The Box. It's a dice game that apparently has a bunch of other names. Maybe I'll make one of these for a Christmas gift. -
Nice one Dave
-
Thanks, Walt.
Which one?
-
The lectern your design ?
-
Yeah. Mostly. It was driven by the fellow who is going to build it. I think the base looks too small. I'd have eliminated the thin piece between the base and the column, made the feet a little bigger and a few other things. I do think it'll be pretty cool with the purpleheart details.

Good work.
And the second one makes a great drinking game.
-
Thanks Eric.
The DawgPound got your image.

Nice SU stuff, but it appears that the base sections don't allow for adequate toe space and will interfere with the person using it. Is it just the view you're showing?
-
Ben, you might be right. As I said, it's what the customer ordered and the customer is always right.

I received an e-mail the other day from the pastor building the lectern. He included these images of a mockup he built from the plans I made for him. I asked him if the feet on the thing were in the way for someone standing at it. He said they weren't at all. I guess that's good news.
