I'm working on a project dealing with topography at a regional scale (Cincinnati region). I have imported the terrain from Google Earth. My problem is that the file size (multiple files actually as I have had to break it down into different sections) is gigantic and slow.
My question is, is there any way of either reducing detail in the terrain or reduce overlap of terrain cuts, or some other method to improve performance with the terrain? I need to eventually combine them all into a single file and it is looking impossible at the moment if I can't reduce the terrain detail.
      Thanks! 😄

My Terrain Tools is specifically designed to work with Google Earth terrain patchs. Trim removes the outer row/column around the selected patch thus getting rid of the partial cells. Clip removes the common area between the two selected patches. This should help shrink the model size some at least. Otherwise I'm not sure how you can reduce the size.

Nothing is worthless, it can always be used as a bad example.

To reduce the amount of polygons, you need a polygon reducer plugin (Polyreducer 0.1, or Artisan which is by far the best). For terrains, you could also get results with Terrain Reshaper.
