      Guys,

I find the alerts from AVAAZ very informative and trustworthy. They are not cranks in my experience but a fantastic organization that keeps an eye on 'big brother'.

Their latest alert is quite alarming,

      http://avaaz_images.s3.amazonaws.com/3254_TTP-DS_1_460x230.png

Details are leaking of a top-secret, global corporate power grab of breathtaking scope -- attacking everything from a free Internet to health and environmental regulations, and we have just 4 days to stop it.

      Put you name in support!

The problem with these Trade agreements is it can severely undermine a Countries ability to create its own policies.
United States and New Zealand tried to Block Canada from joining because of our dairy policy (in Particular, and too bad they didn't succeed)
Where I live dairy products are extremely expensive, but the are absolutely hormone and drug free by law.
This would be out the window.
I am really starting to question economic policies that are concerned with bostering the GDP based only consumerism. Do I have an alternative, no, not for everybody.
But for me, I am driven to become self sustaining.

        Just monkeying around....like Monsanto

Well, the world wanted economic globalization, now we have it. Of course, no one thought about the further ramifications of tying all the worlds economies together. We've seen the effects of that in the Euro and the weakening of the dollar too. Shoring up economies that don't play by the same rules, ie; 3rd world countries that exploit child labor but are allowed to compete economically despite human rights violations, manipulation of sovereign currencies like the yen, deforestation for economic gain, etc.

Greed and avarice already run this world and at my age, I'm tired of fighting it.

It will give my grandchildren something to do ...

Nobody thinks of the corporate greed twisting the rules to suit their needs by driving out of business or overrunning small businesses and national sovereignty, but when the PR department says the same thing it comes out like: "We are protecting our interests and maximizing the return for our shareholders." The idea that GDP an growth are necessary for a good economy is not a truth, it's based on an outdated post-WWII economic model.

There is a lot in this statement Dale! Much of Western society have no idea about this. I still have fond memories when a child of my Grandmother carefully folding the brown paper from a parcel and rolling the string into a ball. It made sense! I always knew where to locate some brown paper or string.

I am a subscriber the Mother Earth News and have been since I was a young lad looking forward to the annual BIG BOOK! Nowadays it digital, but that fine too.

I would love for SketchUcation to have closer ties with Mother Earth News as I feel SketchUp would be a great tool for showing many of their green projects.
