SketchUcation Member's NETWORK?
-
yes that is it dear Mike....
I think if people see the truth, and not what see via "TV" etc as the truth, then darkness of our minds will disappear. and this is what "big brothers" don't want. so I agree with this sort of positive social networks that will improve all of us.
SCF itself has been a friendly informative place for me to learn and improve my skills in my beloved Sketchup! -
Really good idea. I would suggest to have two avatars.
'Artistic/For Fun' and 'Professional'. Up to you which is which -
This is a pretty great idea. Good to put a face to a name and easy to be able to reach out to people when you what their strengths are.
-
.... I'm working on it We probably will get something going prior to launching New SketchUcation as I see there is quite a bit of interest in this.

Not to go off topic but it would be good to have a name to face section for those attending basecamp. I hardly know what anybody looks like but then I am sure we can make that into some sort of drinking game in the pub!

Start a new thread Liam and see what happens

Right guys, I've talked this through with Csaba and we have a plan in mind. The first thing to do is get a list started. Please chech out this thread for details,
Database for SCF Members Network invitations being set up!

Some specific interests I may suggest to be added:
- Industrial Design (shape and functionality of systems and objects)
- Kinematics (movement interaction, sketchyphysics for example)
- Mechanical optimization (FEA and other strength deformation tools)
- Fluid dynamics tools (CFD, heat, aero, hydro, wind resistance, etc..)
- Machining (could encompass flat (and non flat) metal, wood, 3d printing,CAM, etc..)
-
Thanks Michael, will update list to include your suggestions
-
Is it possible to include some handy filtering?
**- by city- by country
- by profession/sector
- by interest**
But, I assume that everything is under control.
-
Just collecting for the time being. We will then start figuring out how to categorize.
-
Count me in, Mike
Not been so active lately, but this kind of network sounds great
-
Thanks Marcus.

I'm in.
Email you details?-mb
That's fine
-
I'm in too, Mike. I like this idea.
I'm not as active lately as I have been, but do consider myself a 'serious' member here. -
Hi Mike
I'm in. I may not be commercially active but I see myself as a serious member.

Hi Mike
Email sentSeconding beginner's filtering idea but adding:
by state, region, district or countyAlso a few extra categories for your list:
Landscape Architecture - it's difference from landscape design is essentially scale, site complexity and formal training.Town and urban planning (e.g. users of Thomthom's CityGen plugin)
Ecological planning, surveying and GIS (with Trimble coming on board these will likely be growth areas for SU)
Forensics and litigation

Great Idea. I'm in as well.
Email sent. Look forward to see this come to life. -
I like it! Count me in.
Is it possible to get statistics on members, like how many from each country, number of countries, number of members by age and sex grouping. I would find this interesting. It seems to be a very diverse membership. Iβm new but am planning to be at basecamp 2012 so I can see for myself.

Great Idea !
I'm definitely interested. How do we sign up?
