      Hello,

I'm searching for a plugin that manages point clouds in SketchUp. I want to use the cloud to model an industrial building.
Tried Pointtools plugin for SketchUp but i thought it worked poorly. And now the trial time is over so I can't continue testing.

I think I will get the point clouds in .fls format. Pointtools POD creator converts the fls-files to .POD and then the .POD file can be imported to SketchUp.

      Thanks in advance!

Wow. I didn't know or maybe forgot that Pointools existed. If any of you happen to view Pilou's video embed, wait till the end and run the video with the Pointools Logo in it--if it shows up.
          Thanks to you, Pilou.

Hm, I don't know the number...

The problem is that we want to snap to point in the cloud, or even better surfaces, and I didn't manage to do that in Pointtools during the evaluation period. In the tutorial videos it looks like they are building approximate models. We want to be more accurate.

The manual says that it is possible to snap to point with the line snap tool included in the Plugin but for me it didn't work at all.

            Somebody with experience?

            Thanks.

            /Marcus

I tried Pointools several years ago (Dec 2011) and did not find it very useful. I have a license for Lieca Cloudworks (the Autocad plugin) that I find far more useful. I am not sure if Pointools Sketchup plugin is even available any longer. It is not listed in the Bentley Pointools Product Data Sheet.

I am still interested in finding a way to work with point clouds directly in Sketchup and would appreciate any new leads!

Hi,bdealva. I am working with point cloud in Revit and want to find a way to work in SketchUp. It seems that you are working with point cloud in AutoCAD, am I right? Could you please tell me how AutoCAD works with point cloud? Is it easy to modeling than Revit or some others software? Thanks a lot.
