Cry Engine 3

Is anyone using or aware of the Cry Engine 3 SDK? looks like incredible realism... this could easily be used for 3D rendering shots for use out of SU.

Yes i have dabbled a little bit in the cryENGINE and i can tell you from just a quick play its quite powerful for realtime visualisation. Albeit it is still the gamer type realism not photorealistic (like Lumion).
I was experimenting with the engine just after i completed a project where i was bringing my sketchup models into the VBS2 engine (Virtual Battle Space 2) which is a militarty simulation, essentially a game engine though. With the use of the PlayUp Tools bringing your models into the CryENGINE is pretty straight forward IF you follow a few specific rules.
Havnt really had much time to play around with the engine lately though, just dont have the spare time....

Saw a video montage a few days ago, that also included two companies that use Cry Engine3 for arch viz: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsVnVHxA664
Those were Crystal CG http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bAZ3KniPC4
and ENODO, witch looked very impressive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7T0FMaRsfdg -
There's an extensive topic about it under extensions...

Yeah I'd love to play with this option, though I can't understand the lingo of much of the tips and seems you have to dig around everywhere to find the right info. Little is up to date!
Plus the proposed use for commercial works attract massive licensing fees.
