I'm curious, is your cat an indoor or outdoor cat? de-clawed?

The reason I ask, is because my girlfriend has a 14 year old cat that looks very unhealthy, It never really goes outside (it's not allowed to), and basically sleeps all the time. Where I have a cat that is allowed to come in and out of the house as she wishes, and besides getting a little more picky about her food, I haven't noticed any real signs of ageing, and she is pushing 16 now...

anyways, beautiful cat! among my favourite pets!

I was raised with a pair of orange short-hair tabby cats. They were awesome...Tiger was almost twenty pounds and looked skinny. He was a huge, well proportioned cat and had a great personality...very affectionate and social. Candy was much smaller, but was his sister from the same litter, and kicked Tiger's butt often (even though he was the better killer). They lived to 18 and 16 years respectively. I still miss 'em.

By the way, my wife and I just watched an incredible cat story on Discovery DVD this evening. The story is about two zoo born Tigers (Ron & Julie) that were trained and released in a special park in Africa...not at all like their normal habitats in Asia and India. The story of adaptation and learning is simply incredible and the DVD even more amazing to watch! If you like cats, this will absolutely make you wish you did this with your life! Check it out, it's called "Living with Tigers" from Discovery DVD Classics, Animals O2.

You'll really like it...it was truly amazing.

                  Cheers,

My Maine Coon cat Fred is 17 now. He is part of my login name BTW. Before he ran away, Boo was my wife's cat. Fred is my cat and our last name is Lay.

Fred is declawed but is an indoor/outdoor cat. He used to be about 18 pounds but is now only 12 pounds. His health is good but he has arthritis as he cannot jump on the couches anymore. Now he just walks up and looks at you until you pick him up.

He is my monster and loves to fight. His mouth will wrap almost all the way around my wrist with teeth showing. He is a lap cat as well, loves to snuggle.

His new nickname is house payment. He recently had an abcess on his side and needed medical attention. Poor boy. The hardest part of his recovery was keeping him inside before the stitches were taken out.

I also find humor in cats like lets-roll. One of my favorite cartoon books growing up was this:

My favorite panel was the pencil sharpener... you can guess where the pencil goes 😆
