it's so detailed. so gorgeous
like what i have in Sid Meier's Pirates but with more detailed beautiful model there -
Thanks, Sure Irwanwr copy away , nice to see that pic, spent many hours on that game
Baking these textures is a long process, Ive now Baked over 23 Texture AO maps along with the 23 Texture maps, some AO maps can take over 2 hours, and with a 22 hour power out yesterday it really doesnt help, here a few in game screenies: -
hi Marius,
you play Sid Meier's Pirates too!?
the forth on the above post looks so gorgeous -
Some props from Below Decks, Each Item has its own UV maps and Textures.
-
More work on the Textures, The exterior is pretty much ready apart from the figurehead and the gunport textures, struggeling to get the same Yellow.
Dropped the Exterior AO by 20% as the ship did look abit Dark in game.Still have to hang the Lanterns and Firebuckets, along with making the Furled sails.
-
i love the ship
feels like i'm going to jump into the screen
have you ever made a tutorial on making the hull somewhere, Marius? -
Thanks irwanwr, I think I did ages ago but I cant remember, are you needing some help?
Added the Furled sails and Fixed some more textures, Found out that the Upper Deadeyes where "accidently" Deleted 2 weeks ago, Lucky I have a different version saved everyday so I could go and find them

well, i might interested to learn and to make small sailing ships after seeing your gorgeous models say, something like a sloop or schooner. perhaps a royal sloop
PS: i saved the first image from the post above . that might be a good calming wallpaper to have on the desktop
-
Great, well find something you like and we can take it from there.
Launches are complete and fully functioning, Masts and rigging can be removed, Last pic shows how they can be removed from the ship as well. -
where can you find the blueprint or sort of that for the ship, Marius?
-
Well Ive found most of mine online, and a few others Ive found and scanned original drawings ( more recent ships ) at museums and clubs. Hobby kits usually have good drawings as well.
A Sloop like this perhaps?
Flags and Figurehead added, the figurehead needs some work, but ill get that done soon, at least the exterior was finnished this year
-
Another beauty Marius your work always speaks for itself.
John -
awesome
yes, i found that sloop image too with google last night. looks like one of those you could see in Sid Meier's Pirates game -
Thanks Guys, irwanwr I know just the set of plans you need, ill look for them as soon as I get back next year.
Added Some furnishings to the Gun deck, did some renders and switched the pc off, Goodbye 2011 have a great one guys!
-
Just awesome. Great presentations.
I had no idea those ships packed so much iron on one deck!
Thanks for the posts, Axe and Happy New Year!
Peter
-
thank you Marius. i love every works you've shown here (boats and ships, especially )
happy new year everyone

Simply stunning work! Out of curiosity, what game are you building her for that can handle that amount of detail? I have built 3 ships from this era myself, a 20 gun american schooner, a 22 gun french corvette, and a 40 gun french frigate, all built from plans of real ships. They are intended for this mod for the original pirates of the carribean game http://www.moddb.com/mods/new-horizons though unfortunately im struggling with learning texturing and whatnot, but ill see them sail yet. anyways, enough about that, if you are at all interested L'Aurore would make an excellent addition to the mod, though much of the rigging detail would need to be cut down to make the ship manageable(The lag would be terrible otherwise)
Oh and as far as plans for new ships go, I would recommend checking out the National Maritime Museum in London's ship plans collection. http://collections.rmg.co.uk/collections.html#csearch;searchTerm=*;authority=true;collectionGroup=subject-90352;collection=subject-90352
It includes ships from nations other than England as well, and is really an inexhastable rescource, there must be thousands of plans to choose from -
