Attached is a first render of the storm.Some parts work,others areas are a bit overdone.In this render,I have overlayd an image similarly to one I've done before with water droplets on glass.What i am trying to get here is a mood,I think I will add some leaves etc blown in the wind,but colour wise,its what I was looking for.The funny thing is,the rear right hand side is much more successful than the full image(cropped second image)(Sky is from Roger,much appreciated

A couple of good points Roger,particularly about the rain directly outside the windows being illuminated.But I think the water on glass image you uploaded is too static,it looks more like condensation than rain,I want to add movement,even at the risk of sacrificing detail.I am looking at a few other revisions and hope to reupload soon.

Suggestion: Actually the sky looks lumpy instead of it looking like rain on the window. I think you need to get the drops sharper to get the effect of drops on glass. To work, you may have to compromise bldg sharpness a tad. What you want for blur is motion blur in the trees and less DOF blur. Add a tall tree like in the attached photo but give the top part some serious radial blur to make it bend in the wind.And something that is really key. As light exits the building window it will illuminate the rain drops so areas around the lighted windows should have a slightly fog like orange glow.
Everything will be wet so all surfaces of the building should have high shine and refractive index to catch specular highlights.

Actually you might get rid of the window altogether and use long rain streaks at 45 degree angle with a side light off camera illuminating them. IE get the viewer out of the comfort of the indoors and put the viewpoint out in the cold driving rain?

I will look in the morning it is past 2 feakin AM and looking at all these cold rain photos makes my arthritis act up. Zzzzzzz!

That looks really good David. Congrats.
As hard as the wind is blowing those potted plants sure are standing up straight however.

Very nice, maybe a little too much interior light and bloom, but feels like a reprieve from the weather non the less.

Yes I agree Pete,the lighting is a bit too strong,especially with the landscape being very bright,brighter than it actually should be on a moonlit night.I have attached a quick revision with the main landscape toned down,and this works better but I will revise the internal lights later and re-upload.

the upper-right branches are too bright, they should be almost black, as they are against the light.
