USS Constellation 2011

A quick dabble in Photoshop between projects. This is a small rework of the helicarrier i have been working on and off with for the past year. I took away the engine struts and brought everything in tighter taking a few design liberties along the way.
I got rid of the engine struts and brought everything closer in to the main body, mainly so they are less of a target sticking out like that, also for more control if a few of them are lost. There are 16 engines in 8 dual mounts. 12 of them to produce lift and four to maneuver it. The large runway at the rear is for aircraft to land and helicopters. The two font runways are for launching only via catapult. It is also possible for helicopters to take off from the elevator between the two runways. You can see a better shot here from a previous WIP: http://liam887.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/3.jpg
I actually did it in nearly 4000*2300 px but can only upload max 1600px width here so a few of the details have got lost along the way.
