I designed this bookcase clip over a year ago then forgot all about it.
      Rendered with Twilight.

That's a very good concept and rather eyecatching, Mr. Lay. The render is excellent, too. But this looks to me to be a whole system, with a very elegant shelf and panel style. Would there be a rear panel for this, and would a different clip be used there?

I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.

Well like I said, after this initial concept I forgot all about it so your guess is as good as mine 😛
Thanks for the comment on the rendering, I like it too.

That is a very attractive and clever design - and a great candidate for rapid prototyping!

I had a few months ago a similar idea for a modular shelving system. But I believe that there are companies which have already developed such a thing,

But your desgin is very artistic and of course could be interesting for some companies. if you could develop additional types of this part.

I had a ton of type ideas for this piece yes. One of which would be a center piece that slides into what you see above making it a "foot" of sorts. Or a decorative piece. Then of course corners and edges like you have shown.

I was playing around with your very stylish clip and thought I would help with a corner and a 3 way joint
Couldn't work out how to make one if you had a back panel.... unless you rout the shelf 😲

                            That is it Dean.

Here were my thoughts for the rest of the ensemble. Mix and match as you wish. I made the back panel transparent for clarity.

In the past I have purchased many similar storage units (clip together). I needed something to help keep my kids rooms tidy. Well I've never come across one that would last more than a couple weeks. Kids demolished them - plastic clips all broke!!

                              1. Lite shelving designs made of rubber coated metal mesh wobbled like crazy.

                              2. MDF board units were too heavy for the plastic clips to hold together.

My kids are all grown up now and off living their lives but I'm sure there are tones more moms out there looking for a cheap solution. Plus my now college age kids are probably looking for cheap storage ideas as well.

Newbie. Planning my dream retirement home!!

Well I never intended to market these and I agree if they were made from plastic they would not last long at all. That is why these will be made of titanium and the shelves from Kevlar. 😄
