Housebuilder Plugin
-
a lots happened since 2005...
did you download Didlers from here http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=1518
and read the threads to see what might be wrong with it if it doesn't work...john
-
Thanks john - running win xp - su8 - when I try to open in SU folder plugins - get "cannnot open as archive" tried to extract but nothing happens - In SU get "Error Loading File HouseBuilderTool (8).rb
(eval):20:in `require': no such file to load -- HouseBuilder/HouseBuilder.rb"Please Helppp!!!!
-
Download the zip file again - something is adrift.
Extract the files and subfolders containing files exactly as they are in the original zip file.
Many unzippers put the stuff in a folder named after the zip file.
The contents of that folder should be put into the Plugins folder.
Never move files out of the subfolders they come in as the script is expecting to find helper files etc in the subfolder[s]...
Restart Sketchup after sorting out the files and follow the tool's instructions... -
I've had this problem too before, on old computer and did figure it out but been so long ago can't remember. Getting a new computer and installing Su and plugins got this problem again. Downloaded D. Bur's latest
http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=1518 right click error ping after installing plugin all rb. and subfolders where they should. So deleting HB plugin and running Su no right click error ping. Downloaded original from Ruby depot by S. Hurlbut start up SU and ping is back. Conflict in plugins somewhere for now just muting computer but I can't listen to I tunes while modeling what a bummer. Maybe someone will be able to come up with an answer. -
Sorry - I am looking for the imperial version of housebuilder updated. Was able to download the metric version w/out issue. Would love the imperial version w/out right click error noise.
Thanks
-
I use the imperial one regularly with no issues. Try this one:

It should work.

Thanks Chris - but I am back to getting the right click error noise! AHHHHHH!

Find every '.rb' file in the set you downloaded, then using Notepad.exe or a similar plain-text editor open them and use Find+Replace for
UI.beep
>>>#UI.beep
- the added '#' will stop the beeping beeps beep!! -
THANK YOU MIGHTY TIG! You have lessened my ulcer and prevented me from pulling what little hair I have left out...Even a computer dolt like myself was able to follow your simple instruction! - the offending rb seemed to be a 51kb file at the bottom of the hb folder. Now - I noticed that the metric version has a nice little material list packaged with it...
-
Ahh, terribly sorry. I didn't understand the problem. Yes, that beeping is horrific. Glad you guys were able to figure it out,
Chris

In the version I downloaded there is no beep to be found in the rb text.%(#FF0000)[IN later versions perhaps it was removed by the authors ?
If it's making a 'beep' something must be telling it to do it ]very strange: the two lines in red were not written by me! it is not nothing I would not write but in fact I did not do. would the editor present himself (herself)?

is that mean the forum is hacked!?

I do not think so. hackers do not write messages like that. my guess is that some of the moderators did it and forgot to sign the edit.

I did it
I edited Edson's post when I intended to quote it
Sorry !
Undone it.
Redone it here...
In later versions perhaps it was removed by the authors ?

If it's making a 'beep' something must be telling it to do itfor that, i just submitted the forum URL to Virus Total to see if there is any kind of disturbance. and the result doesn't show any kind of thing that might be serious.

no problem. I knew it had to be you or chris. it looked like benign hacking anyway.

Seems I opened a can of worms I see Tig removed the beep that I mentioned. I removed original HB plugin and replaced it with metric and used the user friendly mac version. error loading script So I'm guessing ( I usually know just enough to get myself in to trouble) it's a problem with the ruby ext finding the HB folder mines in MacHD>Library not in User> Library I don't know if that helps or makes things worse.

House Builder and House Builder Extension both make beeps. I found that House Builder Extension by D. Bur uses the same "House Builder" code. So when you install house builder extension, a copy of house builder .rb's get put in the "HouseBuilder" folder. I found the ui.beep code in the HouseBuilder folder, in the HouseBuilderTool.rb file, I changed ui.beep to #ui.beep in this file, and moved it down to the main plugin folder (over writing the other housebuildertool.rb file that got installed with housebuilder.
If you just modify the file in the plug in folder, housebuilder extension will still beep because by default it uses the one in the housebuilder folder.
