I'm not sure Hostmonster will redirect your name servers. Since your domain name is managed by another party they cannot access them.
You could redirect the name servers yourself but you do not have any files in your hostmonster public_html directory to redirect them to....
Steps I would suggest.
Go to cpanel
go to domains
go to transfer domains
they have a video
https://www.hostmonster.com/cgi/help/transferhostmonster will transfer your domain to them. Then you have full control of everything at hostmonster.
Now do you want another website or do you want to use your domain for a wordpress site?
If website, build you website on your computer and upload it to the public_html directory. If a wordpress site, go to software services, wordpress, install at the bottom of the page.
If you use wordpress you will have to upload all your images to your wordpress blog. Be careful you will get a totally clean blog and you will start from scratch....
I would recommend transferring your domain from the other guys and downloading and uploading your existing site into hostmonster as a start.

This is why websites are like tooth pulling.
I have watched that movie, gone to MS website forums, and they said:
@unknownuser said:You'll need to cancel the domain first: http://home.officelive.com/settings/pages/CancelWizard.aspx. Once cancel you should get the unlock code. Which you can then unlock at Melbourne IT and do whatever you want with the domain.
The problem is I have no way to log into Melbourne I tried everything every name, even when they asked for my website address it does not compute.
This is why I stayed with microshit so long...moving a website is harder than moving a house.

The easiest will be to get a new domain, dump solosplace and start fresh...
-
Pete do this.
Go to cpanel and buy a new domain name. They are cheap and you can worry about your old one later.
After you buy it, go to cpanel, software/services and hit wordpress. Down at the bottom left corner hit install. It will prompt for your new url. It will install a fresh copy of wordpress and give you the login information.
Login and add a picture. have a beer. (or two)

you might check and see if Network Solutions has control of your domain. they are the end all original controllers via ICANN.
http://www.networksolutions.com/
if NetSol can't help... then ICANN should...

Pete, contact the hostmonster (or what) site. They should be able to suggest what is best - after all, you have just signed up with them for two years.
I have moved domains from one place to the other already and there was no issue with it at all.

And when you have your domain/host problems sorted out you should consider carefully what you should use for creating your web pages. CMS systems are mostly useful for sites where you add a lot of new stuff all the time, but they are not that easy to set up or maintain. I've made 2 Joomla sites for clients, but it turned out to be a complete overkill, as they can't manage to add aricles and/or images. They managed to mess things up though.
If you don't know much/any about html, css, php, Javascript etc, and don't have someone to set his up and run it for you, I think you should look at a more direct approach.
My absolute favourite is Xara Designer Pro from http://xara.com
They also have Web Designer available. I've been using Xara, which is basically a very fast, powerful and versatile vector drawing program, for many years for all kinds of graphics and print stuff, but hadn't used its web site tools before a couple of months ago. Now I don't use anything else at all
It is extremely easy to use, and everything shows up on the web exactly as you designed it. It comes with a lot of templates too, to help you get started, as well as drag&drop widgets for eCommerce and lots of other stuff. Want to show a video - just drag it from Explorer and drop it into your page.YouTube, GoogleMaps, PayPal etc. And if you want to you could also add Javascripting, php etc...
It also publishes your site for you via a built-in ftp-client.
And there are two very helpful support forums for it, at http://www.talkgraphics.com/ and at http://board.xara-users.info/FTR I'm not in any way attached to Xara, but just a very happy longtime customer
Xara is a gem -
There is never a trouble with moving domains ... Generally the new hosts even prefer you just transfer the domain and do a new website, this way, they avoid possible remaining traces of previous hosts (competitors) ... So once your owned content is secured, you may contact the new host to transfer the domain ... As soon as they start the process (usually takes 1-2weeks) I suggest you start building the new site, using the new host's templates or not !
domain name and the site content are not linked together -
Okay, I got another domain solos-art.com, and assigned it as an add on domain, how can I create a site as my primary site is solosplace.com.
FF sake, this is frustrating.

Well, is this new domain already functioning?
(BTW have you asked the monster folks about the transfer of your current domain? When it will happen and how?) -
-
Yeah, that sems to be the "forced way to stay with us". I really do not know how you ended up with this craphole company.
I wonder however what they (can) do once you do not host your domain with them. Will they somehow "obtain" any new emails you are sent to the new hosting service?

Normally it's just copy a folder!
But you must find an host who keep you manage your files yourself
All is made in 5 minutes + time's tranfert of your big folder of files! If you have such problems it's just you have not take the good host!

Heads up!!
Csaba is a saint, he Skyped with me doing some voodoo desktop sharing crap while we chatted and walked me through the basics, I now know enough to mess things up, at least now I will know I'm screwing up!
So when I get a gap in work I will 'create' well kinda, as far as a template can take me.
Be prepared to be...bored.
