I heard a radio show that was about this game phenomena called Minecraft. http://www.minecraft.net/
When I did a search on the forum there was one set of posts in December asking if there was an exporter from SU.
Apparently it has gone so far against the trend of glossy, super real video games that it has gone viral. With crude pixel style graphics, those who spoke claimed it is very addictive, but there are no levels or prizes, it is what they referred to as a "Sandbox" game. It was created by a guy from Sweden, there is no big corporation, just him, and current estimates say he is making about $150,000.00 per day with well over a million users.
I found this a really interesting phenomena.
Does anyone here play the game? -
I don't play it but I always regret that it's not me who has these ideas.

Yeah, I really thought of Facebook first, but I'm really slow at writing code. (should I start legal action )

I've been playing it a while - It's a sort of virtual lego where zombies come out and try and kill you at night, it's worth the price even though it's still in Beta - but it does need more ideas added to make it a long term thing. Some clever stuff has been made in game with the wiring/switches material (Redstone) and musical blocks..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qG9SPywEGm4

It also sounds like the creator of the game has no real intention of finishing it, just keep on developing. They also said that he is very open to user ideas and often incorporates them.

My kids spend hours playing the game. Looking forward to the IOS version so they get off the home computers.
It is very basic but they spend an amazing amount of time playing it. Very basic graphics.
One of the same kids obsesses over Xplane mods where the entire plane is modeled down to the operable ashtrays...
