My name is Henry Krukowski and I live in Ancaster Ontario, which is the third oldest community in Ontario and was once short listed as a possible site as the capital of Upper Canada.
We have many historic buildings, 30 over 100 years old and some approaching 200 years old.
At the moment we are trying to “fight City Hall”. In other words our city planners want to build wider roads which will devastate the Historic Village. We are trying to say there is a better way, by favouring pedestrians and cyclists rather than cars.
I am a novice sketch up user, so for me to create a presentable model of a section of the Main Street is physically impossible until my skills catch up to my dreams.

My ultimate goal is to produce a sketchup model of my village. For now I would be satisfied to model some parts of it, not as it is right now, but how I think it could look. I would use this to present images to other residents who are unable to visualize the concept.

Any guidance or additional information provided by members of the SU community would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read this posting,
      Henry Krukowski

What is it exactly you would like to model, the entire village, a cross-section, a 3d map and what info would you like to show and how?

          Hi Henry (and welcome),

Could you show us something of your town/village? I live in a place where we have more than 30 buildings that are more than 1600 years! Our old city centre is the biggest in the country and was even bigger than contemporary Vienna in the Middle Ages and we have lots of exclusively pedestrian areas here so can even show you alternatives.

It would really be a shame if for some convenience, they would destroy those old houses (that are not too abundant on that side of the Atlantic anyway)
