I know how to set the number of segments for an arc created in sketchup. My question is whether there is a plugin or some other way of setting the numerical length of a segment for a 3d line imported from Acad (ie. 5ft). It seems that sketchup arbitrarily sets the segment length when calculating the 3d spline as it is imported.

SketchUp does not arbitrarily set the length of splines upon importing them. Are you seeing an unexpected behavior? Do you have a file we could import to test? It could have to do with your import settings? Or maybe the file is just wierd or something?

            Chris,

You are correct in stating that sketchup does not arbitrarily set the length of the entire spline. It does segment the spline when imported and it is the segments that seem to have an arbitrary length. I have not found any setting that dictates this as part of the import.

            Diego,

I'll give the plugin you recommended a try.

            Thanks gents!

Ahh yes, I see what you mean. Yeah, not sure how to handle that in SU. The SU team could really use to build some of these features into their CAD import tool.
