MakeHuman: Collada export with low-poly meshes and clothes
-
make human (for Blender) has been mentioned on the foum a few times, but this recent update (Dec, 2010) may create low-poly geometry that is more appropriate for use with SketchUp. Does anyone use it?

Collada export was always very rudimentary, so I spent some time bringing in some things available for mhx: low-poly proxy meshes and clothes. Apart from the default high-poly mesh, you can now choose between the three low-poly versions, ordered from left to right in poly-count order. You can also dress the character with some basic clothes.
The choice of mesh and clothes is made in the file proxy.cfg, located in the same directory as the MH program. The instructions in the file are hopefully sufficient.

I've never used make human (in fact, by the time I would finish any project I work on - e.g. to populate it with people and such -, I usually lose interest) but it definitely sounds interesting.

Yes, my French friend Orgelf use it intensively with Sketchup
I can ask him some hints about thatBatman's suite is "Make Human" + Blender all the rest Sketchup!

Hi, yes I use Makehuman very often .
MAkehuman makes an export in .obj, you can in Blender import that .obj and then export it in .dae

Of course, that would require a lot of research of existing colonies I assume (Due Diligence)

Yeah Dale ..... I imagine it would. If you hear of any jobs going in this area, please let me know as I would be very reasonable on the fees
