Boston Bombé Chest Test
-
A friend asked me for some suggestions about how to draw the serpentine front of a Boston bombé chest. Here is my test drawing.

It's not perfect but it looks like the process works well enough. I need to use more segments in my curves and I need to make sure the segments at the midline on the profile curves are parallel to the red axis so the seam at the center doesn't show but it is a start.

I'm not sure what tools you used but,
I knocked this one up using Bezier curves, extrude by rails and extrude by loft.
It gives a nice smooth finish.I only guessed at the curves so it's not truly accurate to the classic shape.
The hairy edges are just my bad graphics card on this old PC.

Mine looks rough because I have shadows turned on but I did essentially the same thing you did. I split mine in half on the midline, too, to keep the file size down for the test. I do have accurate curves to work from as well.

Sorry, I wasn't criticising, just that you hadn't said how you did it so I had a go to see what worked for me.
It's an interesting shape that taught me more about using SU. -
No worries. I didn't take it as criticism. These sorts of things are good for learning more about SketchUp aren't they?
