[Request]Selection tool pick window

I should know better than this, but could an alternate Selection Tool pick window be devised so that it is either amorphous or polygonal? You know, like Lasso in some other graphic program?

I've been using ThomThom's vertex tools a lot for this. You can use one of the various selection window types (box, circle, polygonal or freehand) and select the verticies. If you exit the tool, the selected verticies then become a selection of all faces and edges that connected to those verticies. With a shortcut setup for vertex tools, it becomes also a quick, non-uniform selection tool.
Of course a dedicated non uniform selection plugin would still be nice!

In the back of my mind, I was thinking that ThomThom had already solved this with Vertex Tools. That's why I said I should know better than to ask this. Maybe this post belongs instead in the Sketchup 12 wishlist thread.
