The end of BIOS bootup in sight
-
I am very happy to hear that new computers will soon be shipping with UEFI, no more long boot-ups now it boots in seconds, no more compatability issues and limits to HDD sizes.
-
Well that is great news!
-
Its not just boot time that is being revolutionised, but I/O implementation.
-
Could this be implemented retroactively to older computers or does it need something that only new computers have? The aspect of compatibility wasn't very clear in the article.
-
For older devices, as long as the ports physically exist on the network, a virtual pc with the required OS, and app, should do the job. I have a lot of ancient stuff my network.
