Liam: 2/3 of it comes from various internet photos of props and models. They are VERY inconsistent as to what a classic speeder bike looks like, so the rest of this is my imagining of what I think should be there; in other words, I'm "BS-ing it". There are no truly good blue prints that I could find. I'm also taking some artistic license and am imagining a "Street Legal" version, something you could buy off the showroom floor.

Thanks for the compliments! Update 3, 90% of front end done. I'm not looking forward to building the engine. Ugh, looks complicated!

Its not as complicated as it looks I have a good source I started this once but got bored too quick. When I get back from basecamp ill dip up the refs from my old drive and send you a PM link for them.
The most complicated bit is the curves on the chassis/seat, and if you can do that you will be fine with the rest dont worry. Do an awesome paint job also with stickers on etc that would look real good.

Big thanks for the reference offer! I'll definitely be able to incorporate them in the engine details, the material I have is very poor. We'll have to see what the verdict is on the textures, it'll be different.

EDIT: Front end done, engine work started.

And just for fun, solid chrome.

Almost there. Just have to finish the engine and foot rests/brakes, texture (Ugh!), render and done.

Done!! Just have to make some textures and apply them. I think I might try a serious Kerky render, but getting all the shapes textured properly in SU for export and creating them in GIMP for Kerky will take a while.

I'm sure there's a purist or two out there that would like to point out that isn't George Lucas's Speeder Bike configuration, so to them I say that I took my own artistic license and fudged the rest due to the pretty poor reference material I had. I went with the idea that "this isn't your father's speeder bike..."

Liked the 'solid chrome render' a lot.

It's that time...you know, when I insist this model gets the 'Render this' treatment.

So, if it's okay with you lets get going. πŸ’š

LOL, I'm working on it. Unfortunately I may need to re-do a lot of it as I didn't bevel any of the edges, so it's too "sharp" in the render, and the "shell" has some odd bumps in it due to the differing edge counts where Curviloft formed faces on my curves, so I may need to re-make that to have a suitable render. As much time as I've invested in this, it would be silly not to go the extra mile. Plus, I'm learning Thea Render, so that will add a little to the texturing time.

Several Star Wars-style fonts are available for free on the web. I got the one used in the render here.
