Cool model and the render is probably better than what I could do....

As for comments, the log texture is good but I feel like it's too light, or glowing too much, maybe it's the lights. I think the level's might need to be adjusted, the sky seems darker than the model. But I could be wrong....I don't comment very often so take a grain of salt with my comments. Cool either way. Cheers,

There's something very compelling about this image, its almost like a postcard or something - not entirely realistic, but artistic. Excellent render.

One crit that may help, the stone columns and retaining wall texture appear scaled too large.

Now that I look at it more, I think the compelling look is because all the lights are on in the daylight

Nice nice, Richard. I like the model - reminds me that I am missing my winter trips to the mountains. 😄
Jsteacy already said it, the lights are somehow not matching the daytime. If it is a dusk scene, your sky is too bright. If it is still daytime, the spots would not show that strong in reality...

            cheers

hmm i like it ... i agree strange image, more hyper-real than photoreal..your wood might be a tad too yellow but thats just my taste. Add some snow on the roof!

Just the architect in me, but your chimney seems to be a huge snow trap. Is that the intention?

I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.

Hi Rick. Please take these as helpful tips rather than criticism.
Composition: I'd pull back a bit to see the full gable and the full extent of the first floor balcony, and stick to 2 point perspective as far as possible so verticals are vertical. Eyeline / horizon at about one third split and try the frame crop at 16:9
Render: Try a really crisp daytime render, deep blue sky etc. You seem to have struggled with trying to achieve an evening impression. It is difficult. Lets see through the windows.
Entourage: Maybe log piles, more skis / snowboards. People on the balcony. Footprints in the snow. Mountains in the background.
                  Otherwise, very good effort. 👍

Nice model and rendering; I'll add to the above that it appears, to me, that some of the logs are glowing, especially the ones under the gables where you have a yellow reflection on the underside of the eaves (looks like yellow light, to me).

Since it's a winter scene, some wisps of smoke coming out of the chimney would be a nice touch.

                    My avatar is an anachronism.

                      Thanks for all the comments.

The overall feel is not to be realistic, I followed the customer requests...it's a marketing tool.

I know that lights should be less intense...but then again it's a client request....

As for the log being too shiny, I know that I would have to level them down in Photoshop where I added all the lights.

The texture used for the columns is the same as for the chimney, It's the customer request...I know it should'nt be the same but he's the one who will write my check so... 😉

As for the chimney being a huge snow trap.....I did realised that. I didn't make the design of this model (I sketchup it from a CAD drawing already made by another person)...

                      Cheers

                        Hi Rick
Apologies...I should have scrolled across to see the full extent of your image before commenting above.
Composition: Good frame proportion although I would still stick to 2 point perspective and get a bit more foreground in if possible.
Render: I hear what you say about client requests...you just gotta go with it. If they are happy then it's a job well done.
Entourage: Still think it would be great to add life here and there.
                        All the best
