Use a component with follow me?

I'd like to define a component and extrude it along a path with follow me. The trick is that I want to be able to update the definition of that component and have it automatically update the separate extruded entity made by the follow me commend. Can this be done?
Basically I want to be able to tweak the design of a profile and have all of the extrusions made with that profile update.
I'm drawing eaves and I want to be able to tweak the fascia/gutter detail without having to re-extrude all of the roof edges (LOTS of roofs in the model). Any help would be really appreciated!

Only way I know to do that is Profile Builder...$29 from Smustard -- and well worth it!
It will only work if the original profile is built using Profile Builder though.
