Hi Guys,
I got flight costs through last night and it appears I won't be coming. Flights from Australia to US are ridiculously exe!!!
AUD $4,218 plus taxes!!! not to mention the costs of accom [thanks for the share offer Dave; I was so looking forward to coming.] I just can't justify spending 5-6K for 5-6 days....Bitterly disappointed.

Oh, sh*t, Andrew! That's really a shame! How come it is sooo expensive?!
-
Shame its so expensive from Australia, have you tried skyscanner.net?
luckily form the UK not so bad under £600, just need to decide now where I want to spend a day in America? Choices are New York, Vegas, Philadelphia or Chicago? recommendations anybody? Its cheaper to fly to one of these cities then get a connecting flight to denver but my return flight is on monday night giving me the weekend to spend in one of these places.
So if anybody knows which one is a good idea please let me know as I have to book these flights ASAP before the prices rise! -
Liam,
New York , just to see the Natural History Museum. It's worth the journey alone. I spent 3 days wandering its innards and could've spent a month in there. The space section alone is eye-popping.

ha thanks thats my preference also so far, its a bit more expensive but nly by about £40 so prob worth it

Well if Brisbane is your closest airport £835 is a pretty good price, I think the longer you stay the cheaper the flight but then you have to weigh it up against your accommodation, im sleeping in the airport on my last day lol!

Best Western is block away from Google.
Downtown (restaurants bars, shops, etc) 10-15 blocks awayBeware people, I see 2 Best Western in Boulder.
The one closer, pointed by Solo, is "Golden Buff Lodge".
The "Inn" is farther down, (A).
updt: don't let me be "unprecise", Google building is at the corner of Pearl & 26th.

Ah, I have slept at airports (even train stations) so much in my life!
-
Well if I go to new York ill be sleeping in the airport for 2 nights ha!
-
JFK? One of the worst airports in the world (although I have been to places...)

That is a good price but 46 hours in transit is a little steep!!!!
I'll keep tracking.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you Andrew.

no its LaGuardia or Newark, dont mind really its only a base to sleep at night while I explore NYC by day/eve

I spent a night in New York. I tried to sleep in the bus terminal, but they kick everyone out if you don't have a valid ticket. So I literally wandered the streets near Broadway ALL NIGHT. It was quite pleasant. Plenty of food shops open all night long. I just hopped back and forth ordering sodas and hot dogs
And of your list of places, I would also recommend New York. I think Vegas might be more fun with friends. Chicago is a big city, but I think you should do New York over Chicago. It is quite a city!

BTW . .. I prefer Chicago over NYC.

Ive already decided on new york I get basically 2 days there im going to spend one day around the city then head back to the airport to sleep then next day spend another day in the city and then my flight back home is that night, not bad cant complain really and no point getting a hotel in NY too much hassle and couldn't justify spending that money considering im still a student bum used to slumming it all the time lol. If I wasnt bringing my laptop with me and didnt have a case would loved to just hit a nightclub and get on the red bull all night to power me through the next day then KO on the plane home, maybe if they have some sort of locker system in JFK then I will do this!!

When I was in NY I spent 4 nights in a (Hungarian) Franciscan monastery (don't think of a "real" monastery building - it was just a regular block).
But I also did what Chris another time; wandering up and down in the streets all alone myself overnight.
