GE Terrain Swap
-
Hi I am wondering if there is a way to turn off portions of the google terrain and imagery within GE so as to replace with terrain / imagery that i have created.
I am wanting to recreate a historical construction sequence simulation for Sydney CBD (1788-1820) and have this be available to view in GE. As in most cities terrain has been heavily engineered over time away from what was "natural"
I am envisaging a number of ways of doing this (in order of preference)- Turn off terrain / imagery tiles within GE and have them replaced by my terrain / imagery tiles.
- Float the whole new image and terrain set above the existing one. Will look a bit suspect but is the most feasible at the moment.
I know that i can overlay an image in GE but I would ideally like to change the terrain as well.

Hi Job,
- Swapping (changing the original) terrain is not possible at the moment although there are some hints that Google would make this possible in the future so...
- ...currently this is the only way to go IF you need to go underthe current terrain (building something above is possible as that will cover the original one).
