      Hi Guys,

I have to admit that I am a total Ruby dunce! However I have for quite some time harbored a not so secret ambition to at least learn the rudiments of Ruby.

Today I received my copy of Automatic SketchUp Creating 3-D Models in Ruby by Matthew Scarpino http://www.autosketchup.com/ and after reading the first couple of charters I think that my ambition may be achieved by the end of the book.

From what I see so far, its very well thought out and written with a view to explaining and bringing the total Ruby newbie along the road to programing.

I will post updates on my progress here and possibly need to ask some questions. I don't expect to become any kind of an expert, just knowing approximately how things work will be more than enough for me. I will leave the heavy going programming to all the wonderful scripters that we have in the community.

I see that TBD (Tavi Chis) helped Matthew in writing the book .... "Lastly. I'd like the thank Octavian Chis (TBD to his friend and fans). He is a SketchUp scripting veteran, and provided help and support during the early development of this book. He cleared up a number of questions I had, and served a resource for answering difficult concerns."

I'm excited to see your progress Mike. So make sure to keep us all posted. When I started learning I was surprised because I didn't think I would have a single script idea. Then once you get going, boy the ideas start flowing. Now I can't keep up with my thoughts unfortunately. I think you'll be able to take to it. It gets easier once you get the basics down and find all the resources.

Lately you've been tan, suspicious for the winter.

Mike, Looked over the preview of chapter 3 and wished I had this book before starting to program. The list of following chapters includes subjects that I had problems with:-) Thanks for the heads up.

Guys, I don't expect any miracles. I will be quite happy if I get to a level that I understand the terminologies involved in scripting ...... still .... I would get a great kick out of producing a plugin 😄
