I'm thinking Apple maybe like Murphy's dog!

suicide?

Even though I just became a member today and I praised Solo's work as an inspiration for becoming a member, I must say that I am extremely happy in my cloistered Apple world. My wife insists on using Windows (insert the version and expletive of your choice). I'm the de facto IT guy which has to find files, dig through an endless control panel and plow through arcane menus to fix problems I never experience on a Mac. If the "Apple Guy" ever does a commercial with the "ZX Spectrum Guy" I'll know why I still want my Mac!
...CS Lewis I believe in Apple as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.

I see Adobe is taking an interesting approach to Apple's decision to dump them

But I just got an email ad from Apple. Seems like they are happy to promote CS5 (and sell it on their website).
As to the rest of this news.

Heehee Apple vs Mac
"Claiming bandwith since 19-who-knows-when..."
I'm quite satisfied using a PC, paying less than half for a mac-laptop with the same specs, and the comfort of not having seen a blue screen for the last four years. And on the techsupport mentioned before; I called Dell to ask why after only a year and a half the 'a' key on my laptop-keyboard was sometimes slightly less responsive. The next day I got a call from a mechanic asking me whether it be more convenient for me to have him come over at 9 am or 5 pm. He arrived the same day at 5 pm and replaced the entire keyboard free of charge, even though I ordered the thing with the standard 'free' support package.

Steve Jobs Offers World 'Freedom From Porn'
http://gawker.com/5539717/steve-jobs-offers-world-freedom-from-porn
Mmmmm .... I think I would have to give the debate to Steve even if I do not totally agree with him.
-
there is one point there.
sorry Steve. you do not decide what I see or don't see off of your own interests. if I want to look at something, whether it is porn, lolcats or anything else, a private individual such as yourself does not decide that.
and that is why I'll never own an apple product as long as he is calling the shots.

Thanks for the link to that fascinating discussion. As for who "won", it depends on which kind of "points" you are counting. Social Justice vs. Abstract Logic vs. Debating Style vs. ...
I recently saw a televised debate between Michael Shermer, publisher of Skeptic Magazine, and Depak Chopra on the existence of God. I was very glad to see Chopra on the God side instead of a Bible Literalist. The debate took place at Cornell University and the audience was clearly sharply divided. Very interesting was the post-debate interviews with participants and audience. Pretty unanimously, both sides were very satisfied that they had won.

well the first thing i did with my iphone is jailbreak it. so i win the debate!
-
I have also jailbroken my iPhone. As its so easy to do this, what is the point in Apple acting as moral nannies?
-
total BS! thats like if a dvd player manufacturer tried to decide which dvd's you can watch on their (your) player.
-
Well, its more like if the DVD player decided it would only play DVD's that were burned using a Freeware app - no commercial burning software like Nero.
-
And we heart Adobe!
