Plotting points by triangulating
-
I'm fairly new to sketch up or any kind of modeling software for that matter but I have enjoyed learning and using it.
what i need to do is plot points on a flat surface using a b triangulation. I hope I'm being clear as I'm not sure of the terminology. but instead of using x and y to find a point , for example I have point a and b both on the same line with a specific distance between them ,, then I plug in a measurement from a to c and from b to c and need a way that will plot a point where the two measurements intersect at c.. drawing circles works but it can get quite confusing when you plug in 40 points for a and b . is there another way to just have sketch up set points? -
Hi,
This looks like trilateration, right ?
Here is my script for that: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=10140&p=68083&hilit=trilateration#p68083
Enjoy ! -
that was it , thank you , would be nice if there was a way to just keep point a and b the same and on the same plane and just keep entering my c measurements , but now I'm just being lazy. Thanks again
