The Art of SketchUp - part 2: Sci-Fi

Impressive how the "simple" geometry turns out with textures!
Thanks for your kind words, Carsten!

The texturing is great, with plenty of variation giving it life.
But I'm guessing most of it is painted in PS (like scrathes and highlighted areas).Glad you like the texturing, Adorno. The SketchUp model is actually fully textured and rendered with V-Ray for SketchUp. I did the glows, high lights, scratches in PS postwork.
Here's a visual development I did a few months ago. I imported the SketchUp models into Lumion3D, rendered the image and did some PS postwork. The helicopter is from FormFonts. The boats are from Lumion3D.
I did the offshore oil rig and used one of my submarine models.
Hope you like it.
Have a great day!

Hello everyone,
Here's a personal piece I did a couple of years ago.
I think I posted the helicopter in my one of my older posts.
The alien UFO is a simple Sketchup model. Mountain environment in Vue and postwork in PS as usual.
I have been having fun with some police chase visual developments. Sketchup models by me, from Google warehouse, 3D models from my resource folder or Formfonts. Lumion3D for rendering and PS postwork.
Have a great week!

Elite! Always amazed at how poly-conscious you are. Limited file size without diminishing detail.

Hi guys,
Sorry for not posting anything for a while. I have been quite busy with work and personal stuff.
I hope you all had a great holiday season so far.
You saw this helicopter below. It is one of my favorites. Therefore I use it a lot in many of my visual developments. Lately I am in love with Lumion3D, that's why I use this software for pretty much all of my environmental concepts.
Have a wonderful new year 2014 filled with success, love, joy, prosperity, good health, friendship and everything you wish for.
All the Best,

Hi there,
Some more concepts using the same helicopter.
Sketchup models + Lumion3D + PS
For those who play video games, these concepts are similar to the ones for FPS games like Call of duty or Battlefield.
Speaking of game, I have released my first iOS game for iPhone/iPad, using some sketchup models in there. If you have not seen it check it out:

Yes, I have no words when I see talent

Cool!
Any idea of the Number of facettes / Size file of a such complete architecture object ?
-
Wild! Fantastic but so real and intricate! Would like to see some of your buildings in real life.

I love your work man, mostly your awesome ship. Could you maybe explane how you did your engines?

@ Carsten and Alvydas: thanks for your kind words.

@ rens: Thanks for your kind words and interest. For modeling, I use Sketchup basic tools as wells plugins like TIG's Extrude tools, Fredo's Joint Push Pull, Fredo's Scale, Draw Taper, just to name a few that I use the most for this kind of model.

@Peter: Thanks for your kind words. Some of my buildings in real life? Sure, these are not sci-fi... but here are a few of the projects I worked on from 1998 to 2003 while I was with VLK Architects (http://www.vlkarchitects.com/) before I quit my job to move to San Francisco and work for the game/film industries.
That's how I started learning SketchUp for Architecture when it came out in Fall of 2000.
I was either in charge of a project as the main designer or working with the Design Director on a bigger project for these buildings below.
Take care,

Hello there,
Here's a hangar I did for one of my space fighters.
That model was quite big with 865,369 quads/tris.
