      Hey there,

Here's a personal project I did a couple of years ago.

Buildings and cars are modeled in Sketchup and the rest as well as the final render was done in Photoshop.

      Have a great one,

      _KN

So the creature is a 2d painting?
Well done, you need a sculpture app Ken. ๐Ÿ‘ Its time to involved with this.
I could work some more on shadows, a hard-light overlay of a wall-plaster-painted tex could do the GI trick.

            So about that awesome spaceship:

Another chance has come up, very similar rules but this time all Eve community feedback. http://www.evecontest.com/finalvote/

I might try but a 3 week window is really too small for someone with many ideas but no solid spaceship experience such as myself. Hope you resubmit, it would get my vote. ๐Ÿ˜„

Let me know if I should post a separate thread or something.

Arrrggghhh! Why won't it make a face!!! Stupid, no good piece of... Oh look! The line went to the wrong point. Whew... moving on. (My fights with sketchup.)

@ Michalis: Yes, the creature is 2D painted in Photoshop. I have Z-brush on my computer but never had the time to practice. It is certainly on my list to do (or should I say to learn). You mentioned about 3D Coat. I will take a look. Thanks!

I heard about it because I play the game. It would be nice to see some more ships out there.

There are some NPC corporations or factions that don't have any ships to their credit. Sisters of Eve (careful with any web searches) is a humanitarian faction that does rescues and relief efforts, but it really doesn't have any of its own ships. Something along the lines of white ships with red (like the red cross) decals. The ship(s) wouldn't have to be quite as complex as your awesome one so they might not take as long.

One thing I noticed is that even though the rules are similar it definitely sounds like the 6 views plus the one colored (hopefully rendered) one is all they want. Also it is a bit more of how the ship would fit into the game so that whole Sisters of Eve thing might not be a good way to go. So if you want ideas just let me know. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Arrrggghhh! Why won't it make a face!!! Stupid, no good piece of... Oh look! The line went to the wrong point. Whew... moving on. (My fights with sketchup.)

@ Bryan/Ghalko: Please check your private message and get back to me when you have time.

                  Hi guys,

ASGVIS/V-Ray for Sketchup just had a Featured Artist article about me.

                  You can read it here:
                  http://software.asgvis.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=886&Itemid=466&utm_source=Publicaster&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Winning%20Subject&utm_term=Read%20more%20about%20Ken%20Nguyen

There are a couple images that were mainly done for the interview and not posted anywhere else. Here's one of them:

                  http://i593.photobucket.com/albums/tt12/ken28875/Art of Sketchhup - Sci-Fi/Jaguar_XJ_220.jpg

I have been working on a few more but did not have time to finish them. I will post them later.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day! ๐Ÿ˜„

๐Ÿ˜ฒ Looking at all the pictures of that ship actually made me feel a bit nauseous. The fact that you didn't even get in the top 15 made me even more sick. And this made it in before you? That's just wrong.

"Wow" doesn't do your models justice. ๐Ÿ‘ I was going to maybe post my sci-fi temple, but now? ๐Ÿ˜† Excellent work!!! ๐Ÿ˜

A friend a mine asked me about the wireframe Sketchup of the Jaguar XJ 220 that I did a render earlier.

I would usually use orthos to build it. But due to time constraint (I was in a rush to finish it for the ASGVIS-V-Ray interview), I downloaded a model from the warehouse that was really low poly but had the dimensions and proportions that I needed to build my hi poly model on top of it. I also used some images for reference.

                              Hi there,

Here's my latest render. I used one of my Sci-fi car that I did for the NVArt contest a few months ago.

I tried to make it look as realistic as possible with HDRI and backplate.

Sketchup model + V-Ray + Photoshop postwork as usual.

                              Hope you like it.
