Plugins, for what purpose?
-
Hi to All interested Members,
I'm just Sketchup hobbyist or amateur user, so I have no mandatory pressure. My projects I usually develop randomly. If I have an idea for a project, I seek to available detailed informations. If I have this information, I try to analyze where the problem areas might be and what techniques they could be dealt with in Sketchup.
Sometimes at the beginng i have one or two plugins in my head that I could use for a particular purpose. But mostly it is so I'm looking after a plugin when a problem arises, which I had not thought of before or what I have not seen before.
There are so many really interesting plugins. For a fraction of it, I know the features and have an idea about what I could use it for. Sometimes I play with a plugin to find out what possibilites it has which might be used.
Yesterday I read the posts about the TIG plugin "Extrude Edges by Face" and then immediately tried it out. My first thought was that perhaps we could use it for historic window profiles or vaults or woodworking. (see this post http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=26029).
There may be some plug-ins for applications in which we have not thought of.
I could imagine a competition of ideas about what can be achieved with which plugins. I would be very interested to know which users use plugins planned to solve certain tasks or for a special workflow.
Please excuse if my english is not quite correct.

This is actually a very good idea! Some plugins are quite complex and have functions that are not (necessarily) apparent for people not using those particular ones so some nice examples can be very useful. Maybe (even if not a full fledged one but) some steps with screenshots and/or videos to show the plugin in action to perform some specific task?
