The Samson - Avatar Movie 2009
-
I like what I see especially my favorite "taking a few liberties" "artistic license" "show it the way it SHOULD look" great stuff looking forward to progress
-
Ha its more of a case 'I cant find any references so I dont know how it looks!' but yeah there are a few things I want to add such as some computers for the backseats, the interior all kitted out with webbing on the roof, doors etc etc. Just started filling out the cockpit area did a quick render of the holographic displays:
By the way the buttons are oversized for a reason incase anybody thought they looked stupid. As the cockpit is exposed to the rear bay which in turn is exposed to the atmosphere the crew will all be wearing full pressure suits. thats why the buttons are big so they can still be used with large gloves.
(EDIT) after looking at the buttons on the far right and left of the main console they do look a bit stupid think ill rescale them for the next shots, buttons are just placeholders anyway until I make something cooler.

L to the Iam,
Bring it.
I dig this Jack bird action.
From the balls in my head -- there is a wall between said flight deck and rear compartment.
Hydra gun is killer kicking of flame powers.
Durant "blue love" Hapke

Looking forward to some extra process! Very good start anyways and a great movie, damn I loved it
-
Well managed to do a lot more"
Landing Skids, missile launchers, started work on the main rotors, added the interior seating (14 rear / 4 cockpit) and a few other bits and bobs as well as cleaning up the geometry in places.
-
Looking great so far, keep it up.
Durant, are you holding out on us?

Nice! Thanks Solo!
Yeah there is a bulkhead door separating the compartments, its been open on all the renders so far but it is there here are some earlier shots:In the movie and art book these doors and dividing wall are nearly all glass, I wanted something more robust so added these heavier airlock type in.

Wonderful
-
Haha great stuff! You have some mad modelling skills there, I'm jealous.
-
Thanks, did a lot of changes seem to be going in circles every-time I make something new I hate something else, tear it down and start again!
-
Pretty cool, Liam.
Can't wait to see the final model.
-
-
Thanks was supposed to go and get hypershot today but got up late, when I get it some time next week however I should put out some better renders.
-
Well finished the tail today not sire weather to add a NOTAR style tail or another ducted fan? Anyway here it is so far and also posted a wireframe.
Need to do the engines as well as finish the rotors and housings they are pretty devoid of details right now.
-
Some more shots, finished the engines. Used Max Grueters Fireman body and pilot head for the doorgunner both from the warehouse. Having problems exporting materials into kerk so made do with the default pack for now, somebody helped me out at another thread so ill see what I can do.
Once ive sussed out lights in kerk ill start to finish the inside of the model first and get some nice photoshop designed control panels in there as well as all the navigation and running lights on the outside.
-
Fantastic Liam you de man gets better and better ....just keep going....please
-
Thnaks! Anyway here is the latest build of the model, ignore the textures it was just a kerk test but the model is accurate but with a lot of changes.
The interior alone is about 18MB and you cant see it with this setup once I figure out lighting in kerk il do some interior renders and cockpit/troop bay renders!!
-
Nice!...looking forward to the finished model.
-
Thanks! So am I if I ever get there!
-
