Woodworking Bench

Hi, I have been following this forum for quite a while now; this is my first post. I also follow the Fine Woodworking DCB Blog with Dave and Tim. I am using SU Pro 7.1. I am designing a woodworking bench and wanted to share it and also have a question. I still have scenes of the various components to add in addition to the trestle foot. My question: I want to make certain scenes in x-ray and leave others in the normal shaded view. I have tried various ways to update the scenes and haven't been able to figure this one out. This is a great forum along with the FWW Blog. Any additional suggestions on my model would be welcome. Thank You.

I'm glad you enjoy the DCB blog.
You should be able to do what you want with the X-ray view in certain scenes without affecting other scenes. First, go to Preferences (under the Window menu on a PC and Under SketchUp on a Mac) and then General. Make sure the box next to "Warn of style changes when creating scenes" is checked. then, set up your new scene with the face style you want to use. If the face style is different than in the previously made scene, you'll be prompted about the different style. Select Create New Style before clicking to create the scene.
Nice start on your model. Out of curiosity, why have you rolled the individual trestle foot?

Dave, Thank You for your reply, I will try this as I work on it this evening. I based this design on Lon Schleining's Essential Workbench article in FWW. I thought about just chamfering the feet but thought that rounded would look a bit better. BTW, I noticed after posting that my exploded view scene had lost the base. I think I inadvertently deleted something. Jerry

So to be unclear. I was asking about why the trestle foot shown in the scene by that name is not aligned with the global axes. Go to that scene and select the Front standard view. You should be looking at the front end of the foot not an isometric view.
Yes, it does look like you've deleted some parts. Fortunately you can replace them easily enough.

I orbited it be isometric and was going to use the Make Ortho View plugin. I have been reading Tim's posts about dimensioning; that is why I have been trying to use the x-ray view. Jerry
