Playing with DOF in Twilight...

...worked good, but maybe doing it in PSP is the way to go since I still had to do some desat in the background to make it look as it does: suggestions?

No suggestions on the technique I'm afraid. I can only comment that the DOF (imo) does not add to realism in this example. Considering the relatively small aperture (bright circumstances) and wideangle lens that would be used to create this image in real life, pretty much everything in the frame should be in focus. My $0,02...

I see your point...I was trying to better match the model to the out-of-focus background image but maybe should have gone the other way around :`)

Tom,
I think itworked well, but there may not be enough depth between the house and your background for it to make that much of a difference. How is it for speed - does it increase the rendering time. I must admit I have not tried it yet.
The trees BTW are looking absolutley great!

To me, the unrealistic bit of this scene is that the background image seems like an autumn/winter scene with all the leaves dropped in the trees, yet your trees, although having autumn leaves, still have their leaves.
On another note, I can't wait for these trees! I really want to test them out on Vray!
