Emir Kusturica...

...and his "The No Smoking Orchestra" opened the series of events for 2010 in my city two days ago. This is in the main square here:

Then yesterday it was the New York Ska Jazz Ensemble but I haven't found a YouTube video about that (yet).
From today, Pécs is the Cultural Capital of Europe (together with Essen and Istanbul) for this year. If anyone happens to come here during the year, just drop me a PM and we can have a beer (or glass of wine) together.

Congratulations on that Cultural Capital of Europe thing once again and I am determined to visit you this year and to finally have that beer. Or lard sandwich. Or both!
As for that Bosnian renegade, French director and Serbian nationalist, you´re better off without him IMHO.
Whether or not can this be considered as offensive or inappropriate. -
Well, this was a concert, not a political assembly. I know you guys "down there" have lots of sensitivity and political sentiments but I hope time will cure all the wounds.
Ah, and looking forward to those beers.

As far as the No smoking band is concerned he approprated name although he was never member of that band. He used to be guest from time to time on their concerts.....His films are not too bad a bit same old same old. -
Well, sepo is also "concerned" somewhat about that region (AFAIK - or are those only for the skiing season?)
Aaanyway - drinks are drinks so at least we can agree on that.
-
You bet!
Cheers guys! -
@Gaieus: I had a front row seat to watch the madness of the war in Bosnia, so yes, I guess it makes me very sensitive about that, but yet, thank God, not one track minded.
I know it was a concert - I just hope they did not perform a song devoted to certain Mr who is currently in the custody of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.
@Sepo: thanks for understanding, it´s good to know that you guys "up there" are pretty much informed on this.
Oh and I almost forgot - the drinks are on me -
Looks like a lot of fun. We listened to Big Bad Voodoo Daddy live radio broadcast for our New Years Eve at home. Also a wild show.
Curious. Why were they announcing in English and not Hungarian?
-
They probably do not speak Hungarian.
