Cultural Centre
-
Hey guys. Just wanted to show you a Uni project I've been working on. The brief is to design a Centre for Contemporary Culture in Amsterdam. The site is opposite the Rijksmuseum.
From being in Amsterdam, I felt that there was a lot of movement - it was very busy. I wanted to create a space to break up that movement and hence the plaza space. On the site itself, the existing building had a very opposing force against the canal, so I wanted to create a more sympathetic approach to the canal, similar to the other side of the canal. The building form is representative of the undulation of the water. The structure would be a steel tessellated structure that would have glass infill panels and LED lights in the panels to show videos with light. The wall surrounding the plaza is a glass wall made of panels laminated together to form an obscured view to the video, drawing curiosity to pedestrians. The building itself is going to be a transport exhibition as a representation of movement in the city.
Modelled in Sketchup, rendered in Vray, PP in Photoshop
C&C welcome
