After perusing the Help section in Google Earth, I believe I will get a quicker and better answer from this Forum.
If you use Street View, and view the panoramic photos, there is supposed to be a transparency slider bar at the top of the Layers window that lets you compare the Earth model and any 3d building with the pano photo.
Apparently this slider is only available either in some version of Earth or some versions of Windows. I am not sure which, and I cannot find any specific info in the help zone.
I felt like I was using a rubber hammer to level a mountain.

Can anyone confirm what criteria are needed to have the transparency slider available?

I have XP Home and Google Earth 5.0.11733.9347

I don't have any slider like that but have never even heard about this either, I have to tell you. Can you link to any such info?

            😲
I've never known it was there, thanks!

It seems that it is "glued" to the bottom of the Places tray so you need to have that open to access the slider.

I think the limiting criteria is/ are the OS versions. You said XPHome. I can see the slider on both my Tablet and my Desktop at work, which have XP TabletPC and XP pro respectively. But I do not see it at home, which has XPHome. All have latest version GoogleEarth.

                  Hmmm:
I was just speculating in that last post.
Thanks Gaieus, I will check this out at home, later.
