Can't seem to find an Internet site that has this answer.

I have a computer, with a AMD 64x2 Dual core Processor 6000 + 3 GH and 3 GB of memory. It has Vista Home Premium 32 installed at the present.

Question: When you buy Windows 7, Professional, you get a 32 and 64 bit upgrade discs. So can I install the Windows 7, 32 bit now over the Vista and at some later date, when I decide on a new video card and more memory, install the Window 7, 64 upgrade over the Windows 7 32 or do I need to go ahead an install the 64 bit now.

Don't wish to cut myself out of at sometime in the future upgrading to the 64 bit operating system.

      Thanks in advance.

I could be wrong but I'm almost positive that you cannot upgrade from 32 to 64, you need to do a full install.

Oops! I forgot to mention that why I am not going to the 64 bit right away. Yes, I did find that out, from a 32 to 64 requires a full install. But what I don't know is, can I do a full install from Windows 7 32, to Windows 7 64 bit.

          Thanks Solo

No, you will need to do a full install for that.

Thanks for the info. However, my question is, will the Window 7 64 Upgrade that comes in the Windows 7 Professional box do a full install from a Window 7 Upgrade install from Vista to Window 7 32.

What I am trying to do is install the 32 until I have time to get another video board and extra memory. So I wish to install the upgrade 32 from Vista 32 and than later do a full install from Windows 7 32, which was an upgrade from Vista, to a Windows 7 64. The box comes with two disc, 32 and 64. So I am assuming that I can do a full install from Vista 32 to Window 7 64 using that disc. But will that 64 bit disc do a full install from Window 7 32 b?

I know complicated and I may wait unit I have a new video card and memory and only do one upgrade.

Again thanks for the info Solo
