Now i let you the steps that i have made to have a good beam of light (The image is a quarter of the real size):

Photoshop

A layer in black. New layer on top.

Filter / Render / Lens flare. Blending mode: Screen
Duplicate and Blending mode: Vivid light
Duplicate layer
Duplicate layer and move forward to fill the beam
Same as #4
Same as #4
Same as #4
New layer and draw a white line over the beam. Blending mode: Screen. Filter / Blur / Gaussian blur
Duplicate layer. Blending mode: Soft light.
Radial gradient, color cyan. Blending mode: Overlay.

That is all, folks!
