          Fred,
The carpet looks great already !
Is the sofa a SU model ? Did you UV-map it within SU ?
          😉

Fred, you are quickly becoming a fabric-master in v-ray. both carpet and sofa look great. the soft shadows on the couch are beautiful! its displacement on the carpet, right? is it on the sofa too or is it just bump there?

Fred, congratulations for this, it seams that you learn very quickly. In the last release of vray, you can find velvet material. But the bump effect it's not so great like yours. So, in the velvet material, there is just a diffuse with "fresnel" where actually two colors are combined. I just make some tests right now. I'll post a sample here, if you allow me.
                    Cheers!

                    EDIT:

Thanks a lot for your comment, I have the first version of vray so I can't use the new velvet material.
My velvet material and also the carpet, the map come from the web and I used only bump map that I have done myself with PS.

The Sofa is made from a square pillow that I have found in the SU warehouse, copy and paste , scale and it's the sofa result.

I will updade and share with you the model and the materials...

                      bb, Fred

wondering why you dont want to upgrade your version. anyway if i am not mistaken i think you can also do that in the old vray.. all you have to do is to put frensel material in the diffuse layer rather than a bitmap.

Thanks so much for that information stefanq. You have been very helpful.
                            One question
Does the bumpmap for velvert look like noise?

Actually, it is noise. Look at the last image, where you have the setup for the bump.
Nomer, that was my intention, to show Fred how make his velvet with first vray.
