I am wondering if you could adapt portions of your latest Section Plane script to make a custom drape tool (refering to the Drape Tool in Sandbox).

What I'd like it to do:

Option 1: When executed it would NOT slice the grouped terrain surface. Rather it would make a copy of the slice, group it (outside of the terrain group), and then do your offset.

Option 2: Similar to Option 1, but it WOULD slice and group, but not offset.

Option 3: For greater flexibility, rather than limit the draping to the Z axis, enable a projection perpendicular to the planar surface of the draping object onto to a target terrain (or other surface). User could also specify to use Option 1 or 2.

Option 1, in particular, would allow the user to experiment with the drapping shape during preliminary design stages of the model without screwing up the terrain, eliminate having to get into the terrain group which can cause things to slow down), and also allow the user to make further changes to the terrain using Sandbox's Smoove Tool (they can simply delete the old slice and re-project.
