I have been looking for some good Photoshop plugins to post process renders, and I was wondering what some of the common favorites are.

Depends on what style you aim to achieve. But have a look here:

especially check out Grant Marshall's tutorial - none better.

My all time favourite is Buzz Pro. Its makers, Fo2Pix, have now gone out of business, so if you find a copy still on offer on various 3rd party download sites, I'd grab it...despite the price.
          There's a review here http://www.twistedtreephoto.com/buZZ%20review%20page%201.html

and a good example of Venice, before and after (click to enlarge) here. http://www.betterphoto.com/article.asp?id=202

It has a whole battery of different simplification and line and colour effects. Just using the basic simplfier filter it stands head and shoulders above any other watercolour filter.

I totally agree with Alan about Buzz Pro. I think you can download here:
            http://download.cnet.com/BuZZ-Pro/3000-2192_4-10057833.html

$ 89 is much cheaper than the original Fo2Pix price ($200 as I recall).
