What is the best rendering program for rendering outside images with a realistic effect. I have Vray and Podium and none can get me a decent image no matter how much tweaking.

It's not the app mate, it's the skill in using it.

And coasterdude184, why don't you post some of the thing you don't like, so people can talk about it...
I mean, why not creating a topic "the render I've failed to achived"...
Seriously, you can get feedback and understand better how things works, instead of just saying that nothing's good... Plus it will be an original place...

I opologise for sounding snide in my last post, but the truth is that with some effort and talent any render solution will achieve great results if you take the time to learn it, but most importantly if you have the desire to achieve brilliance.

There is no one button solution, even simple solutions like Hypershot takes some work to create convincing results.

I didn't intend to get anyone all fired up. I was just asking what peoples opinions are on the best one in Sketchup. For me I have only the free version of podium which only has sh*t image sizes. Vray is good I have found for interiors but not so good for exteriors. I am probably going to use the standard rendering program built into Lightwave. Thanks for the ideas though.

Sounds like you know very little about vray and what it is capable of. I suggest you do a search for examples of what it can achieve and you will see it is quite adept at exterior shots.

yeah go to the vray and podium websites to see what the renderers are really capable of.

It would probably be more help if you posted images of your work so people can advise you on how to improve the renders. whether it be on this forum or the relative render program form. You can get photorealistic results with both vray and podium (for internal and external) its just a case of how well u can tweak the settings and how much detail there is in your model.

Don't take these rants so seriously. 😉
The guys are just too enthusiastic about the stained glass rendering challenge.

If you want, I can split the topic and collect the posts regarding your question and you can show us what you've achieved so far (as was suggested above) so that others can chime in which direction you may need to move on.

(Indeed, convincing exteriors are hard to achieve without some experiments and experience)

I tried a tutorial for making a exterior look good. The problem is it doesn't look the same for a whole city.

I disagree that v-ray is not good for exteriors. If you have not already seen this amazing v-ray render, check it out.
