New iPhone 3G S launched
-
Hi Guys,
I just watched to details of the new iPhone 3D S http://www.apple.com/iphone/iphone-3g-s/. It looks that Apple have raised the bar a little higher with the S. The new features include,
Improved performance (x2)
3-megapixel autofocus camera
Video recording
Voice Control
Digital compass
Cut, Copy & Paste
MMS3
Spotlight Search
Landscape keyboard
Voice MemosThey comment on an improved battery life by saying 'its improved' but I would like to know exactly how much improved it really is as is is my main complaint with the current iPhone 3G, the battery life sucks and a small industry has been built on this weakness.

.... picked this up,
'One of the most important improvements to this new iPhone however is that the battery life has improved. Apple claims that the iPhone 3G S will get 9 hours of web surfing now when on WiFi β thatβs up from 6 hours on the current iPhone. 3G talk time will be the same 5 hours now though.'
At least it should last for most of a working day now but I would have to see it before believing!
BTW, I am glad that they have left the case untouched. This is good Apple policy as an older iPhone 3G is STILL worth something decent, not the case with other manufactures that launch totally new models (cases) that really slash the values of the older model.

Yes it looks good, but I dont think there are massive improvements. Not really enough to warrant mass upgrades with the 3.0 software coming out.
The 3 things that do interest me are improved camera, video and faster processor. Unfortunately money is so tight at the moment I have to wait!

Yeah Dylan, you are right.
I already have video and cut n paste on my iPhone (dont ask how ) and the camera is okay so I also probably wont be upgrading for a while. The trouble will be for Apple is that the iPhone is too well built. I've dropped mine loads of times, even on concrete with only tiny resulting scratches.
I would consider an upgrade if the battery was improved to give 24 hours as I find the short life very annoying.

Hmm.. but the iphone cn only do one thing at a time, heaven help if you are Googling something and the phone ring.
Now the new Palm Pre, has everything you want and need and can do multiple tasks at a time. According to the early comparisons the new Iphone does not match up to the Palm Pre.
What me care, I still use an old Blackberry without the cool gizmo's.

I'm still using two soup cans and a piece of string. Never have to worry about battery life and if reception isn't good, you just pull the string a little tighter.
