I also want to know some major features for SPIV. I heard that there might be material parameters, like friction, and breakable joints(can't wait! 😄 ). Will there be an easier way of writing scripts?

SPIV is a ground up rewrite. So a lot of the things that are currently a problem will be fixed (like copying joints).
Joints have a smaller but more logical set of parameters. Like "Friction" rather than "damp"
It will also feature real world units for the simulation. So objects should fall at the same rate as in real life.

Biggest feature so far is a totally new way of building and connecting jointed objects. Its possible to make something like a suspension bridge in a few minutes. And their are no more copying or scaling restrictions.
Materials and material parameters will probably be a big feature.
I dont know what the scripting will look like yet. Even tho the current system isnt easy, it is very powerful. You could make a piston follow the stock market if you wanted.

Breakable joints might appear before SPIV.

Sweeeeeeet. Even if it's not until SPIV, I have a question; Will it be a joint feature, or a new connector joint with breakable abilities?

Just one joint is breakable so far. I might expand it later.

I started out to make a new joint type called "Fixed". Any body connected to a fixed joint wont move all all. It is supposed to make attaching Magnets and Emitters to other bodies easier.

But once I finished I though it would be easy to make it breakable. And it was.

And then I thought; you know it would also be easy to... Well, I will leave that little feature as a surprise.

Is sketchy physics developed by google.. Whats the backstory on it and why does it's development seem to be moving so much faster than the core application it runs in???? 👊

No Google, just little ol' me.

Back story is about 3 or 4 years ago I just decided to write it. I cant remember why.

As for why its going faster. You probably wouldn't have said that a few months ago when it was on the order of a year between releases. 😒

I think google could learn a few things from you and some of the ruby writers here on the forums.

                        SP is amazing.
