Measure Tool

I'd love to have a measuring tool in Layout, much like the measure tool in SketchUp, or the Ruler and Info palette in Photoshop. Better yet, have it function like an architecture or engineering scale, so you can take scaled measurements of objects. This would be very useful when working with scanned images of hand drawings.
Please note, I'm not suggesting dimensions (though that would be nice too) but that has been mentioned elsewhere several times before.
