Bush vs Shoe
-
I saw this on the news last night. I was in a grumpy mood, but this made me laugh out loud.
Bye, George! Have fun on the ranch!
-
I was impressed by his shoe dodging skills, makes me wonder wether its a regular occuarance in the oval office.
-
lol!! Now you mention it! He did have swift moves!
-
Will this be the final stain in the Bush era??
I find it amazing, that a president with such a history for bloopers and mistakes, to have the ultimate incident just days from his departure.
The last days are almost the most important no? if you want to go out with your head straight and proud of yourself.
With Bush its just going down and down... this is almost the cherry on the top of the cake! can he do anythig right??? is he going down in history has the worst head of state ever? -
You got to admitt he was laughing while ducking and also he cracked joke about the size of the shoe. This maybe the most human side I saw of him.
-
True. And I don't think he'll end up in the history books as the worst head of state ever. The competition's pretty stiff in that category. Mugabe, anyone? Ceaucescu? The list goes on, as we all know.
Still glad to see him pack up, though.
-
I was impressed, as well, that the President didn't cower. He just stood there waiting for the other shoe to come, like it was a game of dodge ball. Maliki looks oblivious. He would've got it right in the head. It was the only impressive (positive) thing I've seen about the man.
Solo, Great picture!

THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE!!!! That journalist should have been brought out,
put up against the wall, blindfolded and SHOT!!!! He had two chances to hit
George and he still managed to MISS -

No, they aren't. The last days of George Bush's presidency is simply running out the clock on an unpopular presidency. But still a two-term presidency nevertheless.

In the minds of fools like you, probably. In the minds with anybody with a brain, no way.
-
Apparently the shoes are a huge hit on Al-Jazeera E-Bay

C'mon john no there is no need for you to start insulting me!!!
chill out a little, isn't this the Corner Bar?? just talking.... -
Please tell me what the hell any of you have done to make the world a safer place? My answer, NOTHING, except to be world class clowns.
Good president, bad president, at least he tried. Now, go find a funeral and have a good belly laugh.

chill out a little, isn't this the Corner Bar?? just talking....It just gets a little tiring when any and every incident is used to bash someone. If you want to laugh at someone throwing a shoe at George Bush then fair enough. But don't try and make out that Bush is in any way to blame for this, which is what you did.

Whether or not Bush is to blame for having a shoe thrown at him, is a question of opinion. Whether or not it is socially acceptable to call someone who doesn't share your views an idiot, is not.

You cannot possibly think this is relevant.

Ehm, I see the point you are making, but on the other hand how many people threw things at Bush before the Iraq War? I don't think anyone should go around physically attacking anyone else (whether with shoes or missiles), but Bush's unpopularity is pretty much a result of his and some of his close colleagues' actions, or rather the actions which they sent American soldiers to carry out.
As for the Iraqi journalist, I think that's taking the principles of gonzo journalism a bit far... just undignified and unprofessional.
-
I was against the invasion of Iraq. I felt that the argument for the invasion was so flimsy it was a joke. But it wasn't just Bush and his close circles decision, it went to a vote and the politicians of the US voted to go to war. Barrack Obama voted to go to war. The politicians of Great Britain voted to go to war.

Huh!???
How did he do that? he was not in the senate in 2002.
No he did not vote to go to war, that was even part of his election campaign.

I was wondering how long it would take before this stuff started again.
