OK, signed up again
I started over today, and the rood i got now with both sides identical. Just looking for some tips and feedback on what i got so far, since i am in the netherlands and we don't see these barns alot here, specially me cause i cannot go outside (Long boring story). So i like to know if this is about right before i continue and ask more questions cause i think i sure would have them when i continueThanks in Advance

Hi Mannie,
Nice to see you back (and sorry again for the crash and the termination of your account).
So far, I dolike the barn (although we don't have too many of them here either )
-
Thanks,
Good to be back, it can happen to the best of us of course. I updated the image in the previous post. Question here is about the hadge , how do i make the shutters for that in a good way, another question i forgot before, i made a group out of the textured roof, but how can i give that a name for later use in vue. Easier to texture in vue if i have named parts and groups. Thanks in advance again
-
Now as for group names; you can always right click on a group, go to Entity info and give a name there.I don't know however if this is translated to Vue.
As for the hadge; what is a hadge?
-
The hadge, probably not the right name for it, it is the opening at the top where the bar sticks out above it. Thanks for the group name going to try that
-
So that hay hoisting window or what?
Do you really want shutters for it?
-
well opened shutters that is i guess, else the hay get wet when it rains . Or aren't there shutters there normally ?.
-
Ah,yeah, you are right,I now meant those blinder kind of shutter but shutters are just shutters whatever they look like.
No way I should tell you what to do however!
Start modeling something and we'll see. -
hehe that could work to, will be tomorrow before i continue, dinner now and then tv
-
Manny,
You should be able to find plenty of barn pictures on the internet. Good start, and good luck!

This is what i came up with so far, i guess i need some more practice to get it right, but it is kinda what i am looking for.
-
Well guess now i need to make the other part of it, i'm getting addicted to this stuff. Anyway before i do would this be right ?

Well, let's say I like it at least.
But who am I really? -
This is a Barn drawn for a client of mine in New Zealand. Unfortunately Im not sure whether he is going to crack on with the project, so its still on the drawing (sketchup) board at the moment.
In New Zealand our climate varies depending where you live. The site for this barn is suited in the lower half of the North Island and can experience weather as low as - 5 / 6 deg. and extreme highs up to the mid 30's.
The insulation of this barn was considered to be the driving factor (as well as the budget)so a R5.0u insulated ceiling and a R3.5u insulated external wall was shown in the construction doc's.
Id be happy to post .skp model as is (uncompleted) as model went to into CAD production. A point to note though - use the outliner to group and stick with modeling everything on layer 0. (except furniture or decorations / trees etc).Cheers Jeff

That's a nice looking barn, and thanks for the offer, but i need to learn myself. Last image updated and i think it's about right for a beginner

Ok, now for the hard part wich i do need help with cause i have no idea on how to get thos done. on the crossbar (colored red in example) i want a how you call it hook kinda thingie for a rope, and a rope of course where one end goes into the hay attic and the other end goes down to the side where i need to make something to attach the rope to. Hehe lots of questions i guess, hope someone could help me out with this.
-
Hm. I guess its a hoister what you mean (a little wheel which would let the rope run easier than just a hook).
Here is a quick one using the Follow me tool
Can you make it on your own?
-
Thanks that is what i was looking for, now i tried editing it cause it need something to be connected to that bar of course, i still have some trouble with that follow me tool as you can see
-
Well for today i done what i wanted, tv time in a bit and tomorrow i'll continue. thanks for the help so far
-

I have spent allmost 2 hours on making the rope, but i don't seem to get it right. I guess i be needing some help with this one, cause i cant see it all to well. I bet that is the problem with doing this for me. Thanks in advance
